ABOUT  THE  ARTIST

Karina Woldt is a contemporary  Ocean and abstract landscape artist with over 40 years experience in fine art. She started painting from an early age  and studied fine art at the University of Regensburg Germany  until graduating in 1999. She now works from her studio in the rolling hills of the Scottish borders, a landscape often depicted in her   contemporary landscapes and seascapes.

Through the years of following various teachers she has honed her unique blend of mixed media art style with varied themes of landscape and figurative often soulful art. Karina loves capturing the beauty of nature and evoking a sense of connected-ness with nature and its energy, which can often be perceived as deeply nurturing for her audience. Karina is known for using vivid colors, creating a sense of depth with textures and mixed  media, which tends  to  highlight movement or transcending light. Her artwork has been heavily influenced by impressionism, the  transcending light found in Turner's masterpieces and also  making use of mixed media techniques seen in abstract contemporary art.

She has recently won an international artist price  awarded by Effetto Arte in Florence January 2026 and has been exhibited international and nationally.

“I love capturing  a sense of calm or the sense of flow found in nature or  in the ocean. The nourishment and sense of being in the moment  and we gain from being in nature is at the core of my Art work. My life has been very challenging one, thus my other passion is therapy and healing. My art and spiritual journey has been heavily influenced by mindfulness and Taoism. For example nature teaches us this sense of going with the flow, that things always change and are constantly shifting. In our  darkest moments that truth can give a lot of hope and energy. If you learn to be in the flow it is the best space to be for your inner well-being but also for creating art."

Her  main aim is to increase hope and resilience in her audience through her outlining the flow in natures elements .

The beautiful highland Mountains with their unique light reflections on the lakes and sea is also often an explored theme in her abstracted landscapes.  Her art evokes both strong feelings a sense of soulful connected-ness in her audience. It also adds a beautiful colorful focal point in any luxury home.

Karina’s paintings frequently use techniques from thick palette knife work to fine brushstrokes and flow art elements, in an often unique blend of abstract  landscape work and sometimes soulful figurative work.

She works in many layers and processes combining acrylic layers  mixed with water to create water reflections, then adding thicker textured gesso and oil color, followed by pastel layers. This unique blend of techniques creates her own signature style and  adds depth and movement to her contempoary landscapess.. Therefore her art is highly sought after by contemporary fine art collectors.

Karina has exhibited nationally and internationally in many galleries. In 2025  her paintings were exhibited in galleries  in London, Zuerich, Paris, Berlin and Dubai amongst others. Her most recent Solo show was for May to end of August at Eydens ,  Edinburgh. Upcoming exhibitions this year include Bienale in Venice ad Art Muc in Munich amongst other larger exhibitions.

Collectors tend to love the sense of positive energy, transcending light her unique feel of colors and her soulful art themes  communicated through her work.
